Hardware Mod
I chose to take some severe action here and cut the case to make the cables work easier.
In Australia we have access to a simple rotary cutting tool like this

Gather the components

First disassemble the case. See Preparation & Drive Removal.
On the Fan backplane remove the section under the fan.
Cut the rear plastic fan protector about the same height
Remove the battery Tray from the bottom of the back plane.
When I purchased the 5 Port Sata I had many dreams of fitting the SATA Cables but decided the best way to keep them organised and tidy in the end was to take the drastic action ot cutting the back plane circuit board. This allows the drives to be mounted tidy again back in the case ( leaves the holders in the circuit board in tact. )
Dissamble the back plane. Find some safety goggles and dust mask and cut away.
